Hey everyone, and welcome to our FIRST Favorite Friday post following my journey as a Wedding Planner and fellow Bride! In case you missed my last post, I will be sharing certain content pertaining to the planning process on specific days of the week. Favorite Friday will include a post featuring one of my favorite wedding vendors, and will feature Photographers, Videographers, Florists, DJs, Bands, Live Painters, you name it!
Today I will be featuring Ashley Steeby Photography, who is one of my favorite photographers to work with. Ashley is not only a colleague, I consider her a sister and a friend. I actually grew up with Ashley who was one of my older sister's best friends, and she would take our family photos in middle school and high school which are way too embarrassing (for me) to share. Ashley has been dabbling in photography since her school days, and took the leap of faith and started her incredibly successful Wedding Photography business over 10 years ago.
Ashley Steeby Photography is a husband and wife photography team based in St. Augustine, FL. Ashley and her husband James shoot locally in the St. Augustine and Jacksonville area, however they do a lot of destination Weddings as well. You can frequently find them shooting in the Florida Keys, California, and they have even shot Weddings in France, Aruba and Jamaica! You will frequently find them traveling for work, but also for pleasure and they lead a life that many only
dream of.
Ashley is a natural behind the camera, her presence has the ability to make you feel comfortable and at ease making it easy for her to capture honest moments. Having her husband James alongside of her makes it easy for the men (who usually find it more difficult to relax behind the camera) to relate to them as photographers and together Ashley and James create a lighthearted environment ideal for photography. They are truly a dynamic duo!
Photography Style: Light and Airy, Timeless, Playful and Cheerful. Ashley and James are considered Natural Light Photographers who work with the existing sunlight and light around them, and rarely make use of artificial lighting. Additionally, you will not find excessive editing with their style of photography. Their goal is to keep the image and memory as authentic as possible.
Disclaimer: If you are looking for dramatic and artistic images with a lot of editing and photoshop involved then Ashley Steeby Photography may not be the best fit for you. That is totally okay, we all can't be for everyone!
PRO TIP: Photography is very much an art form, making it subjective in nature. What appeals to one person will not appeal to another, so when searching for a Photographer for your big day I recommend you considering what your personal style is and finding a Photographer who has a vision that matches your own. We all see the world through different lenses, or perspectives, so please find a Photographer whose lense is similar, if not the same, as your own.
